Up until now, in total, we have successfully provided 842 families with emergency food aid, among which 200 families belong to lower and lower-middle class who reside in different parts of Mirpur, Dhaka. Besides, with the help of Charity Right BD and Centre for Zakat Management, we also have provided the aid to 642 destitute families of the 1200 students of Gulbagicha School. Due to the countrywide lockdown, the academic schedules and programs of Gulbagicha School has been suspended. But, due to this lockdown the families of the students of this school, who live under extreme poverty and need, are facing an indefinite uncertainty in terms of financial and economic circumstances. Food shortage, hunger and scarcity has become even a greater threat than the corona virus. Same fate has also being faced by many other people and their families around the country. Everyday, we receive hundreds of calls and messages in our inbox of people asking for help in terms of food and medicine. There are number of families who never imagined, they would have faced hunger; this pandemic has left them with no job, no source of income and an only option to ask for help to organizations like us. So we urge you, with our hands held together, let us all come together, and donate as much as we can, so that we can emerge from such crisis as one. Here are few things you need to know about us, Who are we? We are Active Citizens of Excellence (ACE), who aims to build sustainable programs that can develop Bangladesh in aspects of education, health and environment. ACE has begun its journey on September 2019 with the Project Gulbagicha, which is a free-of-cost school that aims to help the underprivileged children to receive proper education and make them self-dependent and successful in their future endeavours and allow them to contribute to their society and cater to the development of the nation. A glimpse on Project Gulbagicha: The project started on 2011 with 20 students and gradually the number of students increased up to 90 with 2 centres in the end of 2011. Initially the project started was in a major slum area in Pakuria, Uttara, Dhaka. As the students increased every year, the project has expanded its academic centres in different slums located in Pakuria and Chondalvog, Uttrara. Now in 2020, around 1200 students are receiving full free education from 38 centres of Gulbagicha School. The project was funded by Rahimafrooz through CZM (Centre for Zakat Management) and over the time the project also received donations and Zakat from local well-wishers. Unfortunately, on August 2019, CZM has made a statement that they will reduce a significant amount of providing funds for the Gulbagicha School from December 2019, which brings uncertainty to the future of the 1000 students. Active Citizens of Excellence has engaged with the Gulbagicha School to provide more substantial and steadfast support which can ensure a successful future of the students studying in this school. Success story: The Gulbagicha School has been registered under the National Education Board in 2018. The academic books of all the classes are provided by the government. We are very delighted to announce that the students of Gulbagicha School who appeared in the PSC Examination 2019 had shown an extraordinary performance in the examination result. Total Students appeared : 17 Students obtained A+ grade : 8 Students obtained A grade : 9 It is to be noted, that this is the first batch of PSC candidates who have appeared in the board examination. This is surely an extraordinary milestone achieved by the Gulbagicha School. These 17 students are now promoted to Class Six and willing to continue their studies. Thank you
